What an incredible, inspirational and – yes – healing time spent this August at Utah’s Center for the Arts at Kayenta!
I was super excited when my play “Wound Care” – a play about mothers and daughters, searching for what will make things right and perhaps healing what you didn’t know was broken – was selected for the 2026 Kayenta New Play Lab. 👏🏼
And then beyond pleased when I learned I would be paired with these hot LA artists for the 10-day writing retreat and workshop: Director Reena Dutt and performers Lizzy Kimball and Sadie Kuwano.
Woot! 💪🏼
I was ready to dig into the script and learn from these wonderful women, but I wasn’t fully prepared for the rush of positive vibes and support I got from the staff at Kayenta, and all of the artists who were there for me and the other playwrights. (Shout outs to Utah playwrights Rook Reilley, Lisa Quoresimo, Peter Sham and Tyree Marshall & chandra thomas, also from LA!) 🙌🏼
And then there was the fact that Utah is, well, pretty damn gorgeous.

Special thanks to Miranda Wright and Kayenta staff, and to the fab and then some group of interns who were ON IT!

And so grateful to photographer Alan Holben for the incredible shots of “Wound Care,” below.
On to the next adventure, but hope to connect with these amazing artists again, soon! ❤️🩹
