I hope you can join me on Monday, June 6th at 7:30 pm, for a reading of DEAD PEOPLE’S DISHES at The Road Theatre in NoHo.
Feeling very lucky to back in the theater, working again with director Margaret Shigeko Starbuck. And we’ve got an amazing cast drawn mostly from the company: Autumn Sylve, Amir Levi, Michelle Gillette, Jennifer Finch, Gavin Lee, Ivy Khan, Gloria Ines & Janet Chamberlain.
A play about what we hang onto, what we let go of and the weight of our losses, DEAD PEOPLE’S DISHES is made up of stories which move through Los Angeles history to look at how we get through things, over and over again.
The Road requires masks and proof of vaccination. Info here: roadtheatre.org/readings
Many thanks to Carlyle King and David Meyers at The Road for making this happen!
I’ve had a great journey with this play, which I started as part of the Playwrights Union Writing Challenge – write a play during the month of February – in 2021. I cleverly convinced Margaret Starbuck to start collaborating with me shortly after that; we had an online reading in June, 2021 as part of Playwrights Union’s FIRST PEEK Reading Series.
I was fortunate enough to work with Nashville’s Pipeline-Collective, exploring a number of scenes over the past year through the company’s online Salon; was also supported by LA’s Inkwell Theater Playwrights Night; and had the privilege of workshopping DEAD PEOPLE’S DISHES for a limited audience through Ensemble Studio Theatre/LA as part of Winterfest 2022 in March.
Many thanks to all of the incredible, generous artists who helped along the way to bring this play to life… and we hope you can make it on June 6th!
