Red Naugahyde Fun in Road’s SPF 12

What a great time with such incredible artists!

I was thrilled when The Road Theatre invited me to be part of their Summer Playwrights Festival again, this time with my comedy about negotiations, acceptance and belonging, The Big Red Naugahyde Booth (or, Would-be Elks)… online!

This is a play that I’ve been fiddling with for a while, most recently with director Laura Stribling and super actors last year on Zoom. So Laura and I were both very excited to spend more time in the booth with some of our favorite Road actors (Susan Vanita Diol, Amy Tolsky, Stephanie Erb, Elizabeth Sampson and Michelle Gillette reading Stage Directions), and to introduce a couple of fab new faces to the company (Erin Ruth Walker and Jono Eiland).

These people are all amazing, and I hope you can join us online, and raise a glass (or two, or more) with us for the premiere, Saturday, July 24 at 2pm! The recorded reading will be followed by a live talkback. Fun will be had.

The Big Red Naugahyde Booth (or, Would-be Elks) tracks the cocktails and confessions of a group of women who regularly meet to drink and dish. But on this particular evening of excess, a girls’ night out becomes a surreal exploration of female bonds in a changing world.

Tune in @ www.youtube.com/roadtheatrecompany/live.

(And please consider making a donation! I’m so appreciative of all the support and opportunities this company gives to playwrights and new plays, and to me, personally!)

Do check out all of the plays that are part of the Road’s 12th Annual Summer Playwrights Festival, July 15 – August 1. Click Here for the Full Schedule – I feel very lucky to be included in this group of badass writers!

Thank you to all of the artists involved in this adventure, and to the peeps at the Road for making it happen (that includes you, Christian)!
